I studied Finance & Accounting at the Warsaw School of Economics and have always been fascinated by economics, monetary policy and the stock market. I’ve been with UBS for 11 years now and it’s been quite a ride.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, staying active, and dancing - Zouk is my current favorite. And here’s something a bit unexpected: I used to own an axe‑throwing club in Krakow for over five years. Running a business taught me a lot and really shaped how I approach my role today. Plus, axe throwing is a lot of fun and a great way to blow off steam.

My role is about turning financial data into insights that help leaders make better business decisions. Those decisions shape strategy across the EMEA region. I work closely with management and collaborate with different teams across different locations. It’s dynamic and never boring. 

People often assume I produce or oversee all the underlying financial data. In reality, I work with the data, analyze it and guide decisions.

The value comes from connecting the numbers to the bigger picture and helping leaders understand what really matters.

Recently, my team conducted a comprehensive performance analysis for a senior leadership offsite. The insights highlighted opportunities across client segments and helped shape the strategic direction of the business. Several findings also led to meaningful actions. Seeing analysis turn into real impact? That’s the best part of the job.

When my work leads to real change and impact. Knowing that your analysis drives decisions and improves how the company operates - that’s incredibly rewarding. Over the last few years, we’ve reviewed performance of each of our locations and implemented changes to better serve our clients. This has led to meaningful improvements.

I work with colleagues from across the globe and different functions, which makes every day interesting and enriching. UBS also encourages internal mobility - many people I work with started their careers in Poland and have since moved to locations like Switzerland or Singapore. What matters most to me is the culture: feeling respected, empowered and united around a shared goal of driving the business forward.

AI is becoming part of everything we do. I use it as my personal assistant to summarize meetings, find information or draft documents. Looking ahead, AI will increasingly support analysis and reporting, which is exciting to see.

Two things matter most. First, never stop learning - you need to connect finance, business and strategy. Second, mindset. Treat your role as if you were the owner and always ask: “How can I add value?” That approach will set you apart in any career.

Having spent part of my career as an entrepreneur, treating UBS as if it were my own company came naturally to me and I believe that was also the key for my success. The moment when you care more about the outcome of your work than whether eight hours have already passed today and you can go home will help you stand out. 

Axe throwing is first and foremost a hobby, but you can draw a fun analogy to life and work. To do it well, you need to focus all your attention on the target and keep honing your skills through practice.

And beyond that, it’s simply very relaxing and rewarding, especially when you hit the bull’s eye a few times in a row. So if you ever get the chance, give it a try.
